Each year, an estimated two and a half million people visit Jackson Hole. There is never that much tourism going on at one time, as there are several activities in the area in each season. For this blog post, we’ve split the seasons into two categories; warm season and cold season. Before coming to Jackson Hole, try to have an idea of what you’d like to do with your time here so that you can be sure to book any popular attractions, as there can be waiting lists and sold-out attractions.
 

Warm Weather Activities in Jackson Hole

Whitewater Rafting – Jackson Hole is conveniently located next to the Snake River, home to some of the best and most popular whitewater rafting expeditions in the entire United States.

Wildlife Safaris – With Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks nearby, we recommend everybody check out one of the wildlife safaris led by knowledgeable local guides. Bring a camera!

Horseback Riding – Experience the trails and scenery in a way you’ve never imagined. The Mill Iron Ranch allows for scenic horseback rides in and around the Bridger Teton National Forest.

ATV Rentals and Tours – Looking to see the area quickly? Are you a thrill seeker? There are a few ATV rental businesses nearby, and the owners will be happy to give you a map of the public land you can cruise around.

Fishing – Whether you want to fish in public areas of the Snake River or want a guided fishing tour, there is definitely something for fishermen of all ages and skill levels.

The Rodeo – Visit the world-famous Jackson Hole Rodeo show! Bareback bull riding at its finest, complete with rodeo clowns, comical commentary, and concessions. The rodeo takes place on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8 pm Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend.
 

Cold Weather Activities in Jackson Hole

Snowmobile Rentals and Tours – Not unlike the ATV options in the warmer months, you can rent snowmobiles and get a map of where you can and cannot ride publicly. There are also tours available if you’re not comfortable going it alone.

Skiing/Snowboarding – Check out the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, which has something for all skill levels and ages. It’s one of the top-ranked resorts in the world for winter fun, and Grand Targhee Ski Resort offers a less crowded, more accessible experience.

Town Square – Downtown Jackson Hole has some wonderful winter nightlife. The entirety of downtown looks like something out of a hallmark movie, with all the Christmas lights, caroling, and restaurants offering holiday treats. Gallery Wild, Horizon Fine Art Gallery, Wilcox Gallery, and Quent Cordair Art Gallery Painting and Sculpture are all great places to enjoy art on a cold evening.
